"black + white = mccabe" Clausen Museum Petersburg Alaska 2009

In this exhibit, I presented a group of seven paintings.  Each of these abstract paintings provides a viewer with bold black and white forms and vistas to contemplate.

The technical aspects of these paintings involved working toward unique compositions using two dominant colors: black and white.  After brushing on several layers of paint, I quickly determined that additional support colors were needed for balance.  Also, I decided that thick layers of paint applied with a palette knife created a surface texture that was rich, and full of movement.
